I'm trying out for TE paracheer. I'm fully aware of the drama that surrounds this team. I was just looking for some tryout tips from anyone who's tried out before? Or what to expect from the day? (For context, I'm a disabled athlete, I had to stop allstar cheer when I was diagnosed with a heart problem. I tried going back a few years after my diagnosis and when I was more stable, but ultimately it wasn't very inclusive/understanding and I didn't complete a full season because of this. If there were local paracheer teams I would try out for them instead. I don't think I'm a worlds athlete, I just want to do paracheer. I have level 1 tumbles and level 3 stunts as a base/back. I've been going to the gym to try to improve my strength and flexibility in hopes of making the team)

My advice would be just to go to tryouts and see how you go. With regards to the previous dramas, I don’t think they will be a problem this season.

There’s a girl on YouTube called Sophie Mattes and she was on Team England Paracheer, you can probably message her on her socials

Just go along, have fun and be yourself. I was a disabled athlete on the team last year and was so surprised when I made the team. Being on team England was the best experience of my life. But the tryouts are fun and not scary at all.

How do tryouts go in terms of limitations? there are certain things i can do because of disabilities and i wouldnt really like to have to say in front of everyone at the time. If i was to let them know at the start would that look like im making excuses or are they more understanding?

@post5, of course they're going to be understanding of limitations, that's the whole point of paracheer! You shouldn't feel like you're making excuses if you have to say you can't do something, and if anything it will help the coaches for them to know - a big part of scoring in paracheer is adaptations, if you tell the coaches your limitations they'll be able to start thinking about what adaptations they can make in future so that you can join in with that skill.

At the risk of sounding nosy, what drama surrounded the the team last year?

Hi, my university is setting up a cheerleading team and is looking for a supplier of uniforms. Any suggestions on quality, affordable stockists that would make custom uniforms and deliver to Ireland. Thanks in advance!

I do feel that stacked teams are grossly unfair, it's hard for EPs to enforce without some sort of registration system though. If the teams are competing at the same event then it's easy to spot if an athlete was on the mat in another level. If they did L1 at a comp one week and then went to a different EP 2 weeks later with a L5 team then how do you police that? It's impossible without an ID System in place. You have to trust the integrity of the club and unfortunately some are just trophy hunting. Maybe a 10% rule in the same discipline as above.

Thanks glad to know it happens everywhere! But it’s soul destroying watching kids tear kids down thanks to their parents unlike for you or being stuck up! It’s the latter in this case!
