Just some of the athletes that have made the cut, in previous years wouldn’t have even made call backs.

@post12, Dangerstarz United and Fortune Finders Extreme mainly make up the teams which is complete bullshit because Killer Bee Dynamite has some fantastic overlooked athletes this year

@post14, pretty sure that's because it's partly Tori who started Team England so why wouldn't it be held there?

@post14, Firstly... Unity have the strongest level 6 team in the country and 3 additional world's teams so it isn't surprising that they have a lot of athletes up for positions.

Secondly they have several floors at their gym making it a good space for lots of athletes. I think they have done it at Talent Central before but I imagine there isn't the space with people trying out for 3 teams

Unity Black basically are TE co-Ed. As you say, @post17/18 - they are the best level 7 athletes in the country so of course you’d expect them to be well represented. As for all girl, (and junior) I see only one unity stunt group in each and lots of other teams represented!! Not sure what on earth someone is trying to stir here! Unity facilities look great!
Well done everyone who made a team, well deserved and we will all be cheering you on!!!

The first TE practice is in Covs gym. they move between appropriate sized facilities on a rotation.

in previous years they had tryouts and training at Talent Central.

I just think it’s the day unfair how the unity stunt groups know the try out stunts ahead of time. Also how all the unity coaches are now on TE staff!

Why does the training never take place up north?
EMCA has the best gym by far. White rose has a great gym also.
There’s actually quite a few programmes in the north with more than adequate facilities.
How much was the tryout fee?

There are better gyms but they are also used on weekends. EMCA have classes on both Saturdays and sundays, their gym is in constant use so they probably dont really have the time to facilitate Team England.

im pretty sure tryouts is free and then if you make the team the overal cost is around £150 (not including travel and accomodation in florida)

@post24 Gyms used for TE typically offer their facilities for FREE!
It works out that the coaches invested in TE (who don't get paid btw) offer up the gyms.

Talent Central & Unity obviously end up hosting the majority of sessions, then CD gym and this year, EMCA (typically places with multiple floors!) I don't know many gym that will offer up whole weekends for free.

Tryouts are free and the athlete 'fee' is to cover residential training sessions i.e. hotels

Why does a team representing our country get so much hate. Look how amazing England have done over the past few years! Why woud you want anything less than the best being involved.

If you're better than them then tryout. If not then sit down, shut up and support your country.

The national team is to be comprised of individuals with national status. I do not understand how foreign nationals are able to place on a national team and push English nationals out in to the alternate spots. Cheer is an incredibly inclusive sport but taking the opportunity away from English athletes to represent their country on the worlds stage and pass that opportunity to Spanish nationals leaves a poor taste in my mouth. I say this being against brexit and pro EU having spoken to many of my European friends none of them understand why it would be allowed or why the Spanish couple would even want to represent another nation. I’m therefore lead to believe that the Spanish couple do not understand what they have done by putting themselves forward. The blame for this falls on the team managers who I hear favour talent over national pride.

In regards to the emca group being allowed to attend the try out late also leads me to question to the leadership tactics of team England. The junior try outs where large and extensive with a great deal of similar talent. I think two teams of equal talent could of been made, allowing a group that arrived 4 hours late to try out is disrespectful to those who traveled across the country to be there on time, many of which travelled the night before and paid for hotels. Emca also made the final cut it’s sad because if more groups had been allowed to arrive late and go straight to round 2 they might not of.

@post35, I feel the same way. I'm all for diverse all-star teams and welcome athletes from different countries to compete here the same way some British athletes have had the opportunities to compete before.

In other sports such as football you can play in a different country in a league like the premier League but not for the national team. If you have dual nationality you cannot swap and change every year. I'm sure most of us want the sport to grow and in theory of it gets to the level we want it to what is to stop teams from filling their national teams with athletes from other countries just to be successful. 2 Spanish athletes on team England isn't going to make or break it but, what about the long term ?

Think about how other Olympic sport run. They wouldn't expect someone straight away you have to go through years before you can play or participate for another national country. Once this committee has met in April I think new rules will be out the following year and we will have to stop accepting foreign nationals on our national team. They are great athletes don't get me wrong but stay on unity black and orange unless they want to come in your sister's. I think they would be annoyed if so on Team spain

There's been foreign nationals on team England nearly every year I've followed cheer. If they're eligible by ICU rules and better than others who try out then there's nothing wrong with it!

Its disappointed to hear athletes that arrived 4 hours late made the team... agreed other athletes may have made the team had they gone straight to round 2. It does seem as though certain gyms have been favoured. The only group outside of the worlds coaches clique to make a team were GCA. Congratulations to these athletes - they were fantastic and so well deserved.

Has anybody asked why they turned up late? Was there a good reason behind it? If you cant make skills day you are often asked to make another recent video with your skills in it? Maybe they did that and made round 2? Instead of slating young kids biw about you ask

My unis rec team performed sideline at uni and sometimes professional basketball games and had a routine for half time (sort of a level 1/2 pom and cheer mix to make sure everyone could be involved safely). Juts a bit of something for everyone really, it depends on your athletes

I know a few university teams who have competitive teams, and then for those not wanting to compete they'll do sideline/match day cheer, slightly more recreational and you can teach all elements, pom/stunt/tumble without the stress of competitive routines etc.

Just wondering for rec teams, what sort of things do you do? Do you work towards a performance? Do you do sideline cheer, etc?
