Hello! Basically, I am just starting out in cheer (although I was previously a gymnast) and I have been looking for some cheer teams in the Warwickshire area. I have narrowed it down to either RLS Elite or Coventry Dynamite but I have still yet to make the decisions between the two.

I like RLS Elite because it seems like a very friendly and inclusive squad also with a Junior Level 1 team, which would be ideal for me. I haven't really seen them competing, so I don't really know about them in that way, but I have heard good things about their Senior Pom team. RLS Elite is also closer to me in terms of travel (25 minute drive).

However, Coventry Dynamite does seem to be more recognised with higher level teams (although I don't think they have a Junior Level 1, which means I will have to do Level 2) and I have watched many videos of them competing, and all their teams seem to be of a high standard. However, Coventry is slighter further away (a 45 minute drive) and since I don't normally get home till about 5, it could be quite a stretch to get there on time.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either teams or advice that can help me make my decision on which team to pick.

Thank you!

Ha very interesting that you are the same person plugging dynamite on west Mids cheer team post yet then questioning the difference between the 2 squads above. Stop trying to stir crap between the 2 squads!

@post2
I think you are mistaken - I'm not trying to 'stir crap' between the two squads at all - I'm merely trying to make a decision between the two and I would be grateful if you could respect that instead of accusing me of doing something that I am obviously not trying to do.

And I was not 'plugging' Cov Dynamite on that thread, I was simply saying that I had watched videos of their Level 5 teams (because I was looking at them as a prospective cheer squad) and they seemed pretty good - I've never seen RLS Elite perform so I can't comment on them, but I'm pretty sure they're good as well.

Instead of trying to accuse me of doing something that I am obviously not trying to do, you could actually be of use.

PS: If I was really trying to stir up trouble, do you think my post would have been that detailed and listed the pro and cons of BOTH teams? No. So please think before you reply.

Also, I did state that I didn't go there myself - but I had friends who go there. Believe it or not, this is a genuine post and I would actually like some REAL advice.

Hi can u arrange to go and visit both teams ? Or if they haven't already had try outs can u arrange to go ? If you've never done cheer before and have work commitments then maybe going for the team closer to your house would be best .

Just to clarify, I'm not looking for people to say 'Oh, one is better than the other' I'm looking for people to give me advice as to which one would be the most sensible to choose given my circumstances.

They are both great teams and I would be glad to join either of them.

I'd go and look at both, see if any are actually taking new members, do a trial and then decide. You may "click" with one team. And I wouldn't worry about Cov not having a level 1 team. As an Ex Gymnast level 2 or more would probably be better for you anyway.

@post5 I just checked both their Facebook pages and I seemed to have missed all the workshops/tryouts for Coventry Dynamite but the tryouts for RLS Elite are at the end of the month so I will look into going to that one! They also have pre-tryout workshops every Sunday, so I will have to see if I can go in the next two weeks. Thanks for your advice!

@post7 Yeah, I know that I could probably do Level 2 tumbling, it's just I haven't really done much stunting before. And thanks for the advice! I know both are looking for new members, but the workshops and tryouts for Cov Dynamite were in July, as I have recently found out!

I think they are both good teams so maybe just focus on something else to help you pick such as price and distance?

If you're a gymnast maybe look at what tumbling programmes each team offers so you can progress well? Any team should be able to teach you how to stunt but good tumbling classes aren't as common in the UK. They're getting more common but there are many more teams with level appropriate stunts to tumbles

Been on both teams and I'd say cov dynamites 1000000000% quite a few RLS cheerleaders have transferred to dynamites over the last few seasons as well x

Dynamites have a better less bitchy atmosphere an you are treated fairly. At RLS it's more if your face fits or who you know not what you know. But this is my personal opinion others may share the same opinion but yeah this is my personal experiences an opinions. I also feel I progressed a hell of a lot at dynamites than I did at RLS in terms of tumbling stunting and dance etc x

I travel 50 min to Coventry Dynamite, I only joined mid season but after uni cheer really enjoy the worth ethic & the possibility to progress. They both compete at different competitions I believe RLS (sorry if I'm wrong) do more UKCA events, after competing following usasf rules for the past 7/8 years I wanted to stick to what I know... plus watching & working with some of the higher lever teams & athletes is a great experience in itself.
Coventry have just posted 'It's never too late to join our program! Even if you missed trials email coachsarah@coventrdynamitecheerleaders.co.uk for more information'

but I would go a watch a session or two if you can & it will probably be really helpful, & you'll know after seeing for yourself what actually happen during a regular session, and if its something you would enjoy. Hope that helps!

If you want a coach who cares RLS.

If you want to be part of a money making scheme with coaches who are only arsed
About the putter picture or if you care about the name on the uniform go for cov.

If you want to be on the best team then go to cov. RLS don’t come anywhere close to Coventry Dynamite.
The proof is in the results 💁🏻‍♂️

you really do not sound like someone of the correct age to compete on a junior team... i have never heard a 16 year old or under use the vocabulary and sentence structure you have throughout your posts.

Proof in the results?

Yh when EPs are asking them to attend competitions!
Like cov and adevnture in Atlantis.

Strange that!

Firstly which eps? I doubt fc are asking cov to go to their events..

Secondly That proves they are better otherwise eps would ask RLS to go. Cov are clearly a bigger programme that attracts more attention than “RLS who?”

Also don’t RLS just do UKCA?

if you have a bid for worlds from FC you get a free comp entry and as Adenture in Atlantis is the closest to worlds... they just go to that comp...like everyone else. They dont get asked to go.

I’m sure RLS are a lovely programme, but come on-there is absolutely zero comparison with them to Cov! The results absolutely speak for themselves...have rls ever even attended Worlds, let alone globed??

Why does it matter if cov have gone to worlds? Why does that justify how good a team is? With the amount of bids now anyone goes.

But the fact she posted for a level 1 team.

If you look at covs results for their younger teams the results are not even that great .....
rarely get 1st.

Even their level 2 last year was coming 5th at events ....

It’s ok to say cov are a good team. They are they have proved themselves with hiring all the
Right people to get the correct routines for the Worlds teams.
But they are the only teams they care about.

For a level 1 team I would say RLS would actually be the better option!
Don’t shoot me down just my opinion.

@post31, absolute rubbish. Everyone regardless of ability gets onto a team at Coventry. And from personal experience I know the coaches wouldn’t ever say that to anyone. Sounds like you’re bitter that you didn’t get the team you wanted

Over 18s are allowed to train individually or part of them same household so would be allowed to tumble and get new skills.
Check out Sport Cheer England's post.
