Can someone explain to me how Para cheer works at worlds? They have a level 3 team that is going to worlds this year, but I thought worlds was level 5 and up? Also England has 2 teams now so is it split co-Ed and all girl even though it’s not level 5 or is there level 3 worlds and level 4 worlds?
So many questions! Where can we find out more about this division?

They definitely do have a level 3 team - my friend got placed on it! The all-girl team is level 3. But they haven’t explained to them how they can be level 3 at worlds or if they will be against the co-Ed level 4.

Different divisions. ICU worlds is different from USASF worlds which is level 5 plus.

All Girl paracheer sounds like they will be in All Girl adaptive abilities median.

Coed will be in adaptive abilities unified advanced.

Don’t forget that paracheer is capped at level 4.

From what I understood, athletes aren’t allowed to crossover at worlds. How come some people are competing on not the level3 and level 4 paracheer teams?

@post8, I've seen Team Scotland cross over loads of people so I'm presuming it is allowed.

I was however shocked by the number of cross overs on the England Paracheer. Going through their instastory they reposted loads

Interesting. For the last few years paracheer coaches have said that they have a very low % of para athletes on the team because there weren’t enough applicants - but every para athlete that applied made the team. They also said they were working to raise numbers.
Now the hard work has paid off and there are obviously double the amount of para athletes applying which is great! But it begs the question why not do 1 team with a higher % of para athletes to really showcase their strength rather than watering it down to 2 teams with small % of para athletes? Seems like a real shame as the English para athletes I’ve met are PHENOMENAL athletes and I think they could field an amazing team with all of them together.

@post11 paracheer is about disabled and non disabled athletes working together. Although it would be great to field a team of purely disabled athletes unfortunately you would be penalised for it on the scoresheet.

Last year TE ParaCheer had around 50% disabled athletes.

The above post is right in that the aim of ParaCheer is a team of athletes with and without disabilities working together. However, you wouldn’t get penalised for not having any athletes without disabilities.

Be careful with what you perceive on social media. Some of those crossovers are alternate athletes on the team.

My friend has a disability and is crossing over on both teams. She isn’t an alternate. I’m assuming they needed more disabled athletes on the other team so she’s increasing the percentage by being on both. Even she doesn’t agree with it?!

Well hopefully the athlete that doesn’t agree with it has disclosed this to the coaches. She should be removed and replaced with someone with full faith in the project. Nice of her to be so honest with her coaches and can I just say what a good friend you are for posting her thoughts on here for all to see. I’m 100% sure that’s why she told you, so you could anonymously post what you privately discussed on an open forum.

Just seen on Instagram that they have hired a choreographer this year.
Ant ridgeway? Next level cheer? What since Nikkis gone they are unable to
Produce their own routine.
Seems like It’s a shambles this year.
Let’s hope they prove me wrong and get the 4th gold ....

What makes you think it’s a shambles? They haven’t hired anyone, that’s who is working with the team. From what I can see it’s a very organised and well put together situation this year.

Same old people out to bash ParaCheer, easy targets from people with a bitterness towards them.

Duno about that. Let’s hope they don’t have 6 falls like last year.....
What’s a guess they are gonna start of the routine in the corner of the Matt like always?
Same recycled stuff just to get gold.

Team wales and USA are stepping up this year!

@post18 Nikki never choreographed the routines anyway

Maybe they want each team to have their spotlight time?

I agree the training should be split between the north & south of the country. If it’s a national team but all the training is down south no wonder they don’t get that much support or involvement from northern teams.

My unis rec team performed sideline at uni and sometimes professional basketball games and had a routine for half time (sort of a level 1/2 pom and cheer mix to make sure everyone could be involved safely). Juts a bit of something for everyone really, it depends on your athletes

I know a few university teams who have competitive teams, and then for those not wanting to compete they'll do sideline/match day cheer, slightly more recreational and you can teach all elements, pom/stunt/tumble without the stress of competitive routines etc.

Just wondering for rec teams, what sort of things do you do? Do you work towards a performance? Do you do sideline cheer, etc?
