I agree the weird spam posts are annoying but don’t worry, nobody can do anything to you with just your IP address. I wouldn’t recommend posting any personal info on this public forum but there’s no harm in someone seeing your IP address as they are public information! I could google ‘IP address based in Leicester’ for example and find the numbers that way, don’t worry about being hacked! :)

If you create an account, your IP address won't be shown

Your IP address changes regularly (often every 24hrs) unless you change your internet settings. There’s nothing ‘hackers’ can do with them. The spam is annoying though.

The spam is currently a big problem. I'm working on a temporary fix to manage it in the short term.

There is a big upgrade to the site coming in the near future and there is a big focus on that to deal with this problem.

In preparation for the new site upgrade, it would be useful for people to start posting from registered accounts.

@post5 as someone who used to be a moderator on here part of the problem is by moderating a forum people aren't happy either way. As a moderator you get attacked for not removing content and equally people are unhappy when you do remove something that the original poster and pals deem acceptable.

Personally I used to be messaged on my personal social media accounts to either argue about something posted (not by me!) On here, threatened with legal action for not removing posts etc. As a volunteer position it isn't worth the hassle it came with.

I think as a community we need to be a bit better at just being decent people on here and there could be moderators in place who simply remove the spam posts or id somethinf js posted about minors. Th UK coaches page on FB is always really civilised, perhaps it is because you have a named account. I don't think we would see the same interaction here if named accounts were forced.

I don't think there is an easy answer.

@Jen, well I know exactly where you're coming from.

The new site update will eliminate specific moderators and instead introduce community moderation. The community as a whole will decide what content is acceptable or not. No one person will have the ability to approve or deny content.

This will require more people having accounts to curate the content, but the accounts can be anonymous. There will be a much better user experience for using an account.

That's what I thought, going to make for a very interesting season, that's if we get to compete at all. Even by next year I cant see large venues being allowed to open. Kids possibly only having a few months if that to work on stunts that they haven't done for the beat part of a year.
Without the income from spectator tickets, merch, plus surely they cant expect the same payment for routines. How are EPs going to survive this?

@post39 Only non contact and socially distanced dancing is allowed until the distancing rules change. So no lifts etc.

So with new restrictions coming into place how are the courses such as BGU continuing to run?
Will demo athletes be stunting? The last course I went on the demo team stunted to show us grips etc.
Surely this any happen now as contact is not allowed?

Interested to know if it’s still worth booking coaches onto a course they won’t get full benefit from..

Are we better just doing online qualifications instead?
