Looking for some advice. I’m looking to set up my own choreo business for cheer and dance.
Have seen that there are a few others individuals in the industry that do the same: ChoreobyMolly, Mason Hamilton, Michael Dixon, Ant Ridgeway.
I can’t find anything on Companies House that these are registered businesses, so I’m wondering does teams pay cash in hand when hiring external companies/people?
Does it not matter if I’m paid cash in hand to teach?
Also what would you be willing to pay for choreo? Is there a huge demand for external choreographers??
I have 11 years experience and have lived and taught in Europe for quite some time.
Just trying to gauge the market and not get caught out with any problems with tax etc.
Companies house only shows details of limited companies. I would have thought that the people you mentioned would be running their businesses as self employed sole traders/partnerships.
There is a small limit of self employed income you are allowed to receive without having to pay tax on it - if memory serves it is 1K a year. However you are paid - cash in hand, bank transfer etc - if you are over the allowed amount you should do a tax return each year and declare everything. Unless you are an official employee no tax etc. will be taken out of what is given to you and you need to do this yourself.
