Hard to say...

Southampton Vixens and Birmingham Pussycats are always solid contenders for me. Nottingham Trent Tigers have been on form recently but their captain and extremely talented tumbler and flyer has now graduated; it will be interesting to see if that has an impact.

Whats one person leaving got to do with the talent of the rest of the team really....?

I'm looking forward to seeing Birmingham, Vixens, both Nottingham Uni's and Celtics.

Any Uni teams changing levels this year?

@post3, I did clearly state that the extremely talented person who left was also their captain. It's obvious that this may have a big impact on the whole team.....

@post6, yes and I also stated what's one person leaving have to do with the talent of the rest of the team? Captain or not she did carry the routine as I'm sure there were 30 other girls on the floor....

University teams being good or not all comes down to the culture of the university itself and how they actually view cheerleading as a sport. This is why Birmingham, Cardiff, Queen Mary London etc have had consistently good teams for a number of years.

@post8 I also think it matters whether the uni is a good sports course uni in general. I went to a uni not renowned for sport and all the less traditional sports teams (including cheer) were poor because the people who tried them werent sporty. Our cheer team was made up mainly of non sporty people who weren't naturally competitive and didn't understand the concept of working hard. Also it was ran by people who'd never done cheer before uni who then became resident experts by 3 months in so much so they were calling the shots over an experienced coach and scarily enough had the uni backing them. After witnessing a serious injury due to negligence I left!! The uni put ALOT of funding into cheer and treat it as a sport but because the people running it aren't cheerleaders really it didn't help

I don't think being a sports based university makes much of a difference... Not all "sporty" people chose a course that is sport based. Loughborough of course however, does support this. The likes of Southampton and Birmingham, do not. I think it is definitely down to the support and funding, as well as those leading the team that season. So teams out-source their coaches so are consistent, like QMA. Other teams coaches do change year on year, so I do think having a captain leave could have a big impact just as @post2 stated. You can have all the talent in the world on the team, but without the right person their to train them, choreograph and motivate them, it can't work on talent alone.

Definitely going to be an exciting season, between pussycats, vixens and Nottingham teams. I have always rated Pussycats and Vixens as being the most consistent however.

True, although I'd say vixens weren't as good last year as they were in previous years! Excited to see Leeds, cardiff and Birmingham this year.

Always excited to see what pussycats and vixens bring at FC uni nationals. UEA Angels came out of nowhere and won BCA so I wonder if they'll be able to keep up this year. Can't wait for competition season to start!

Fair play they had a good season @post17 but that was last season. Uni teams lose athletes, and some lose coaches, from season to season so it's pretty difficult to compare. Very few university teams are consistent.

last year's top 3 of pussycats, vixens and tigers are definitely going to be ones to look out for. also excited to see what snakecharmers bring to the table in coed again - saw them last year and was seriously impressed along with the top 3 all girl level 3.

competitions are definitely gonna be tough this year but my money's on the tigers to win!

The thing with university teams is that they change so much from year to year. You can have one year where they do so well, but then the majority of members graduate and you have to start again with freshers who majority don't have experience. And a cheer teams success completely does depend on the head captain/president. They are the one who oils the whole machine. It will be exciting to see who dominates this year at competition in regards to university.

I’m thinking of going to Loughborough uni as I’ve heard their team is good. What’s people’s opinions as I’ve been competing at level 5/6 for 3 years now and want to be on a higher standard team at uni :)

Loughborough are usually alright, it varies from year to year. They at least have good training facilities, a lot of unis don't. If you want to keep cheering at a high standard, maybe look for a good fortnightly/monthly all-star team near your chosen uni, since you're unlikely to find a uni team bove level 3.

I don’t think cheer will ever be the same again!!
If it is it will be a few years from now.. Just concentrate on your school work .. the cheer world could disappear unfortunately in all this Covid crap x but your career and your future should always be your main priority especially in these awful times

@post64 USASF have said it will either be virtual or in person. Which sounds to me like they aren't sure of the position with Disney either. Disneyworld still haven't opened half of their hotels up. They have reduced capacity in all parks. I'm struggling to imagine Disneyworld is forcing USASF to run their event right now. Its in Disney's interest to let this year slide again and not encourage thousands of teenagers onto Disney property.

Don't forget the contract of sale for entry fees is been between the EP and the Team/Uni for x number of athletes, not between the EP and each individual named athlete.

When you paid your entry fee you paid it to the Uni so your contract of sale is between yourself and the Team/Uni. Therefore you will need to speak with the Team/Uni to recover your funds not the EP.
