Southampton Vixens 2013-2014 Season!

We have girls from both The University of Southampton and Southampton Solent in our club which is made up of 3 squads: The Competition squad, the Dance squad and the Game Day squad. All girls are welcome to join and find out which squad suits them best.

For Competition and Dance squad, a tryout will be required but no experience is necessary!

If anyone is looking to join, please like our Facebook page "Southampton Vixens Cheerleading Squad" for more information about tasters and tryouts for all 3 squads as all updates will appear here first.

Please take a look at our videos for last season to get a glimpse of the Vixens!

Does Southampton Solent not have their own cheer squad now? Solent Ravens?

Yes, Solent Ravens do still exist. Vixens however do have girls from Solent University on the team as well as University of Southampton and some non-uni students. Thanks.

I know GCA are in Gloucester but I'm not sure whether they have an open team or not

If you're going over one shoulder maybe get a mat that's about hip height and do a drill for the start of your bhs. So you'd bend down then jump back and throw your arms but look for your hands to try and straighten you out. If you're landing wonky one shoulder might be more flexible/strong which is quite easy to work on at home. Hope that was helpful

Rather than just focusing on is it or is it not a sport, why not argue why the exact classification doesn't matter as much as the value of Cheer as an activity for improving teamwork, fitness, discipline and resilience?

Your persuasion can be about the value of cheer as much as the box society puts it in

I would use the definition of a sport (find one in a dictionary) and then give examples of why cheerleading fits.

I would also compare it to similar sports such as gymnastics and acro.

To support further you should also give the difference between sideline cheer and Allstar, making it clear that they are two different things and that most times Sideline is more comparable to commercial dance.
